Why is the race called "Running Scared 5k"?

Tis the Season...

It's October and participants are encouraged to dress in costume as they make their way through the cemetery. Watch out for some spooky surprises along the way!

Why should I run this race?

Besides the fun, the food, the festivities and the cool t-shirt, your entry fee is going for a great cause - youth education.

What time is the race and Where is it at?

Race starts at 6pm. You may park your vehicle anywhere near Haffey FieldHouse and Reading Veteran's Memorial Stadium. The race will start on West Street near the Stadium, wind through the Reading cemetery and head out and back for a flat, fast course ending near Koenig Park, where the party will be going strong.

Will there be awards?

Awards will be given to top 50 men and women as they come through the shoot. No Awards ceremony.

Will there be water stops and bathrooms available?

There will be water/gatorade at the start, middle and end of the route. Bathrooms will be available at those locations as well.

Are Walkers allowed?

Absolutely. Walkers will be asked to finish the race on the sidewalk , but the Party will still be going when you arrive.

Do You Need Volunteers?

Volunteers are always needed and appreciated. If you would like to volunteer, please contact SHarsch277@aol.com

Sandy will take your information and keep you informed of your responsibilities, such as point runners/walkers in right direction, etc.

What do I get for Volunteering?

First and foremost, volunteers get the satisfaction of helping raise funds for Youth Education. They get to be a part of the inaugural 5k. Details are still being worked out, but Volunteers will be admitted to the under 21 Post Race Party, receive chance to win sponsor donated items & enjoy the entertainment and camaraderie!
